Christian Bateleur thought Miami would be a vacation from the supernatural. He was wrong.

When a warehouse raid goes sideways and Christian finds himself in DEA custody, he meets Special Agent Marie Valentini, a tough-as-nails investigator with trust issues and a crucifix around her neck. Marie's been tracking a new street drug that turns ordinary people into violent killers, but every lead goes cold and every raid comes up empty.

Initially, Marie wants nothing to do with Christian's "unique skill set." But when her superiors force them to work together, they discover that the drug conspiracy runs deeper than either imagined. Behind the scenes lurks Uji no Hashihime, an ancient enemy whose hatred spans centuries and whose network of corruption reaches into the highest levels of law enforcement.

As Christian's visions intensify and his sense of unworthiness grows, he must confront not just a powerful adversary, but his own crippling self-doubt. Every time he tries to help, people seem to get hurt. Every use of his supernatural abilities brings him closer to the breaking point.

When Marie's investigation puts her directly in Uji's crosshairs, Christian faces his greatest test yet: Can someone who feels fundamentally unworthy find the strength to save the one person who might just believe in him?

In a final confrontation that will push both of them to their limits, Christian must learn that worthiness isn't about being perfect. It's about choosing to stand up and fight, even when you know you're going to fall.
